about a month ago we went to visit my sister. While we were there we got to spend a morning with Nevaeh.
Nevaeh was one of the first people in my family who got to meet Larkin because they lived near the hospital where she was born. I don’t think anyone was as excited to meet Larkin as she was…
Nevaeh is my cousin’s little girl, and for the last year and a half she has been battling cancer. She had a brain tumor removed in the fall of 2011, and since then has endured hell. Chemo, twice. Radiation, twice. Lots of tummy problems, unfathomable fatigue, hospital stays, needles, pain.
She wanted to take a bath with Larkin so she could help me wash her hair… sweet, sweet girl. That smile melts my heart. The few hours I spent with her that Saturday morning touched my heart, in a deep way. I listened to her and my girl giggle as they splashed in the bathtub.
I held back tears as I thought over and over,
It’s just not fair. In her 5 years, she has endured more than most people will ever know.

In spite of all hardships in her life,
Nevaeh radiates joy.
She is funny. She is witty. She is smart. She is compassionate. She is sweet. She is brave.
She is so
full of life.
Nevaeh,
I want to be like you. You are one of the most beautiful little girls I have ever met… truly a princess! Your joy in life is contagious, and I pray you never lose that. God had a huge plan for your life on the day you were born, and this is one season of that story. I think about you and your sweet little spirit everyday, and I can’t wait to see the woman you grow up to be. You
love other people with your whole heart, and are so selfless. Most adults strive their whole life to become the kind of caring person you already are. at 5 years old.
I want to share you with the world because everyone needs someone like you in their life…
a true inspiration to live every day with joy.
Today was a day of great anxiety for her entire family.
Today Nevaeh had scans of her brain and spine to check for tumors.
Today they waited for news… What was their future?
